As those of us currently in hats and gloves are very aware of, winter is finally here, and along with it, some very chilly temperatures. It’s common knowledge that the cold can wreak havoc on your clients’ skin, but did you know it can also affect the makeup you put on them? According to Pencil Me In Cosmetics, cool weather can temporarily change the consistency of your makeup, which is usually designed to be applied at room temperature. Application will be different if you try to apply your makeup outside of normal temperature range. For example, an eyeliner pencil left on a cold countertop may feel dry and scratchy to the lid, making it uncomfortable for the client. This doesn’t mean the pencil has gone bad; it simply means you have to warm it up to bring it back to room temperature. Roll the pencil between your hands, then draw a few small lines on the back of your hand to warm the core. Once the core is warmed, the application should be silky smooth as usual. Pencil Me In warns, however, that use of electric means to heat your cosmetics is not recommended.
