There’s no denying that the brow has become the It beauty accessory of the moment. From brushed-up to bleached-out, the arches are getting plenty of play and have become the new focus feature. Here are some of tips and tricks on edgy yet fresh ways to dress up a client’s brow.
Glossy, Glossy: A glossy black brow is the perfect combination of retro and femme fatale. This super flattering look might seem theatrical but done right, it’s a winner. A-listers like Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox regularly work the brow-tastic trick. To get this look, take a small firm bush and load with a gloss finish mascara, then brush onto the hair. Be careful not to make contact with the skin, as this will result in more brow than you bargained for. If you desire a glossy finish without the color, try my Peep Show Mascara in Madame Crystal or simply apply a small amount of Vaseline for a slick trick.
Glamazon Brows: For the client that loves that groomed look, try creating strong brows. I love this trick because it instantly gives a modern look. To achieve, use a soft matte eye shadow rather than a hard brow pencil. Make sure you use an angled eye brush so you maintain a clean, crisp edge to the brow.
Bright On: Brows have become the new eye lid on the runway. So why not have bright shades going all the way up? A pop of color to the brows makes a fun statement. While it’s definitely a not-so-subtle look, it’s a fun for a photo shoot or runway. For this effect you can try a subtle wash of color swept on with a soft eye brush, or for more intense, dramatic look press on color with an eye brush all the way from the lashes to the brow. For those with naturally deeper brows, darker colors like blue, green and purple look amazing. For those clients with lighter brows, I love yellow, orange or pink.
Bleached Out: Ultra-light arches definitely make a statement. There’s no denying that invisible brows paired with deep purple lips (spotted at the Givenchy spring show) is a very fashion-forward look. For a more toned down take, try sweeping a little concealer or foundation through the client’s brows. This will soften the brow look and temporarily lighten them one to two shades, which is a great way to trial the trend without doing anything too drastic!
