The inspiration for the hair at the Nanette Lepore spring 2012 show came from an unlikely source: a model who walked into the fitting with dirty locks. “It was greasy in the front and dry in the back and I thought it was perfect,” said Rolando Beauchamp for Bumble and bumble. He applied Thickening Spray to dry hair and blew it back with a brush, then rubbed Dry Wax through the top with his hands. For models with soft hair, he spritzed Surf Spray throughout the loose hair in the back to give it a dry texture.
The focal point of the makeup look, created by James Kaliardos for M.A.C, was bright lips in an assortment of colors. “The idea was to push boundaries using color,” he said. “Nanette does this with her clothes. She utilizes bold colors to empower women to make bold choices.” The four different lip hues, chosen for each model depending on their skin tone, were pink, orange, lavender and magenta. The rest of the face was kept relatively simple, with just bronzer to give off a healthy glow, shimmering pale pink on the eyes and some mascara.
Essie Tart Deco, a light orange-coral, was used to give the nails a pop of color.
