The doo.Ri spring ’10 collection, shown at Bryant Park, featured a color palette in shades of gray with pops of blue and pinks and fabrics ranging from silk to jersey to tulle. To complement the collection, lead stylist for Moroccanoil Orlando Pita created a contemporary tucked-under ponytail with a hint of bangs he described as a “real-girl look—not too edgy or goth.”
To get the look, Pita prepped the hair with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, then blow-dried it straight. He then created a loose side part and pulled the hair back into a low ponytail. Next he sprayed the ponytail with Luminous Hair Spray (available in December 2009 and previewed at fashion week) and flat-ironed the ends. He then loosened the ponytail on one side and tucked it under, allowing a few wisps to fall out. Pita also attached custom-cut bang hairpieces to girls without bangs that showed under the side-swept part. Luminous Hair Spray held the look in place.
Meanwhile, key makeup artist for M.A.C Tom Pecheux created a makeup look he said was “very unique—very rock ‘n’ roll.” For the eyes, he applied M.A.C Nehru Eye Shadow from the inner corner of the eye through the crease, then applied it to the eyebrows for a strong, gray effect, eschewing mascara. The face had a matte finish, while lips were patted with Sculpt and Shape Foundation to mute the natural color, then brushed with a blend of Moon’s Reflection and Electric Eel Eye Shadow, giving them a striking metallic baby blue hue.
