DKNY’s chic, modern fall ’10 collection called for equally sophisticated hair, so lead stylist Eugene Souleiman, creative director for Wella Professionals, decided to create equestrian-inspired low side ponytails. “The hair should look like the girls were just riding a horse—sexy and youthful—not like before the ride when it’s too severe,” Souleiman said. To increase the hair’s volume and brighten the color, Souleiman added wefts of hair for each model, which were hand-painted by Eva Scrivo and her team of Wella colorists prior to the show using Wella Professionals’ new Blondor collection to achieve pale blondes, along with Koleston Perfect permanent color and Color Touch demipermanent for a range of natural shades. “We went for a natural cool palette—very in line with the urban sophistication of DKNY,” Scrivo told me.

Charlotte Tilbury, key makeup artist for M.A.C, went for a clean, healthy look for the face, which featured a porcelain complexion, a wash of earthy color on the eyelids all the way up to the brows and a wash of lipstick in a flattering wine-and-chocolate shade on lips, eschewing blush. “I’m not into blush this season,” she said. To complete the look, nails were randomly painted in one of four matte Knock Out shades: Plaster, Pool, Concrete and Sher.
