It was all about the bat for designer Christian Siriano as his inspiration for his fall 2012 collection was based on the bat and the black-and-white 1933 film The Vampire Bat starring 1930s’ actress Fay Wray.
Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders created a sleek, pulled-back gorgeous ‘do to perfectly personify Siriano’s bat vision. Anchoring the hair, Beenders set two low braids on the side to keep the hair flowed back (the braids would not show) and then she flat iron all the hair into the sleekest of straight lengths, securing the locks back with barrettes for a modern, cool and simple look.
Throughout the process Beenders used her creation Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hairspray to keep the style slick and in place.
MAC Cosmetics‘ Lead Make Up Artist for the show Polly Osmond kept right in step of the bat-inspired theme with lips of the deepest mauve/red lined to create triangle edging to mimic bat wings. The effect was beautifully glamourous dark and creepy bats! To get the lips, Osmond lined the lips in Night Moth, then filled them in with lipstick in Media.
