American Salon's Nicole Palmieri poses with Senses owner Antonio Rosa after receiving the La-Brasiliana treatment.
I recently had the opportunity to try La-Brasiliana‘s Keratin Treatment with Collagen at the hip Senses New York Salon & Spa in the Flatiron district in Manhattan. I’ve always dreamed of being able to wash my hair and let it dry naturally without it looking like I just got out of bed, but since my hair is neither stick-straight nor curly, I was convinced no treatment would ever allow me to do this—until now. I entered the salon and was first led to the shampoo area to be washed twice with a clarifying shampoo. Next, I sat down at the styling station and had my hair blown out leaving 10 percent dampness in the hair. Antonio, one of the owners of Senses, divided my hair into four sections and applied the treatment precisely, making sure my hair was completely covered. My hair was then blown out again with the treatment still in. Antonio then straightened my hair with a 450-degree flatiron, which seals in moisture, hydrates, and creates a glossy, completely straight finish. The entire process took about 2.5 hours, but the length and time varies depending on hair length and thickness, and the treatment results last anywhere from two to four months. Because the treatment is keratin-based, it is actually good for the hair and is supposed to dramatically reduce styling time, leave hair in its original healthy, shiny, and smooth state, eliminate frizz, and improve hair’s elasticity.
Before I left the salon, I was given strict orders not to wash my hair or even get it wet for four days. After the four days, I washed my hair with La-Brasiliana’s line of products designed to maintain and prolong the results of the treatment. I decided to put the treatment to the true test: I washed my hair and decided to let it dry naturally without using a hairdryer or a flat iron. To my surprise, I was delighted with the results. My hair naturally dried quicker than usual and it was left feeling silky smooth and frizz-free. It still has body and some wave to it, but I walked around all day loving the fact that I was able to “wash-and-go”—and still feel confident!

I currently use LaBrazilliana shampoo, conditioner and leave in treatment and it makes a huge difference when I blow dry my hair. I am so looking forward to the actual treatment on Saturday.

I have just had my hair treated with la Brasiliana Keratin treatment yesterday. I know that I can’t wet my hair or tie it in a band during the next few days. My question is can I use a bursh or comb on it or do I literally just leave it? Thanks, Alison (England)
Hi I’m a stylist in Michigan would like some training or were can purchase product thank you
Hello,
Does la brasiliana contain nickel? I’m just wondering because I am allergic to it.
Im interested to know if anyone tried blow drying the roots like an inch away from scalp with a round brush n flat ironing the rest of the hair? Lots of my clients dont like the fact that it gets very straight to the point that it has no volume. Otherwise the products works great .
I had my treatment 5 days ago, it looked nice the first couple of days but with a bit of “build up” of products feel and then became really greasy for the next two days. Still, I suffered the whole 4 days as prescribed and washed it only today. To my horror, once dried my hair looks and feels absolutely the same as before the treatment! – dry, frizzy and not straight AT ALL!!! I paid £250 and sat patiently for 4 hours just to come back to my usual frizzy and messy hair. I am very disappointed, annoyed and upset that nobody mentioned to me before the treatment that it might not work. I am not even African or Medeterranian, just plain White European with thick and frizzy hair. I do not understand why the treatment didn’t work on me. I used to have Japanese Yuko system in the past and that treatment worked brilliantly.
Hi, same as lady before except I was the hairdresser doing the treatment, client has just text me saying it’s dry and frizzy, I did explain whilst doing the treatment her ends needed trimming, and no amount if keratin would sort that out. What can I do for her? This was her first wash today.
Why does no one seem to respond to these questions – which are very helpful and would be more useful if they had answers. I have found the aftercare products on Ebay and am not sure which I should be buying… uno due tre? but what about quattro diese etc?? Would have been a really good idea if the hairdresser had advised that I had purchased these before my appointment. Let’s hope it arrives within 4 days otherwise I will look like the ‘problem’ ones above…. (Looks great on day 1 – Thank you Jay & Carrie @ Elipse, Covent Garden)
Hi Roxie,
This post was just a review of our experiences with the product; we are not affiliated with La-Brasiliana, and therefore cannot answer specific questions. Many have found the post and ensuing comments useful for getting information and opinions from other stylists and users, but for specific information regarding La-Brasiliana, we encourage people to email the company directly — info@la-brasiliana.com. Thank you!
I recently began using the Volume Conditioner, from Shielo, which is known for having alot of keratin in it. It works wonderfully, especially as a reconstructor. I can definitely tell a difference in my hair.
Before my hair was brittle and damaged. Due to over-processing with chemical relaxers, my hair was breaking off. Since using the Shielo Conditioner, I’ve noticed that the breakage has stopped. My hair has become stronger and healthier. Currently I use the product weekly, but once my hair gets back to normal, I will probably use less often and start using leave-ins. Since my hair is very coarse, I leave it in for 10 minutes instead of the recommended 2 minutes. I can definitely attest to this product contributing to my hair growth.
I am having this treatment done on my daughter’s hair on Friday. Her hair is thick like mine (i’m white) and has the texture of her father (black/native american). I am personally tired of having my daughter cry every time i do her hair because it hurts her. I pray this will help us manage her hair better even though it is a bit expensive i hope its worth the money. She has very tight curls and her hair is very thick so instant puff ball when it starts drying. Gets knotted up real easy like in minutes. I hope this gives my daughter the chance to brush her own hair for the first time in her life. Does anyone know if there is an age requirement on getting the treatment??
@ Kristina… idk if I would do this on a kid of course her age matters (I’d guess she should at least be hitting the teen years?) – and I struggle with mixed hair and had my mom doing my hair until I was well into my teens. I want to get the BKT myself to look more professional, but other options for daily hair care are Kinky/curly (I’ve learned to use Paul Mitchell mixed with a little (olive)oil and then apply a little the kinky curly for soft and managed curls), Miss Jessie’s, mixed chics. Really I would check out http://www.maneandchic.com/ and http://www.tightlycurly.com/welcome/ in the last year my cousin and I have come to see our curls can be managed.
Addendum: So the moderators and you know- I am definitely not giving advice on when any child should be getting any chemical treatment as I am neither doctor, salon professional, nor parent I simply stated as such based on personal ideas.
Hello I’m getting the pro collagen keratin treatment on the 18th of this month. My hair is thick with no relaxer in it! I’m also a stylist what speacialize in natural hair well this be a good product for me to do on my hair so I can let my clients see how it works?
I did the treatment for the first in may this year, and it make such a difrent to my hair , so I did it again in august, but my only problem is that I can’t get the product on the island, tell me how you can ship it to me. THANK YOU IT MADE A DIFRENT IN MY HAIR.
My hair is almost straight with some curl on the inner layers. I wanted this to make it evenly straight. Treatment was a total disaster. Now it looks like African hair that has been straightened with a relaxer. It is completely burned. I had to go to other place to have it cut short. I can’t wait for my hair to grow to forget this nightmare. The second stylist told me that it happened because my hair was previously over bleached with highlights. Even though they say it’s safe for highlighted hair, be careful.
Can you please let me know if there is supply store that sells Brasiliana Dieci Hair Treatment with Keratin and Collage cheaper then it cost me in my hair salon. I use to purchase this product their, First they always run out and now I had to switch to a different salon that was less expensive. Can you help me save some money. I live in New Jersey and I do go into NYC at times if there is a place there to buy. Thanks Jenni
I have also done the keratin treatment. And my hair looks amazing. I was not aware that “Keratin Treatment with Collagen”. Thanks for sharing this valuable information.
can you just do this at home??
you just put the stuff on and then use GHD hair straighteners on it??
sounds pretty straightforward
I had this treatment and the first time I washed my hair it went back to being exactly like it was before the treatment. The stylist told me I could just wash and leave the hair and it would dry with a soft natural curl. Wrong. It dried like a frizzy bush. The stylish put more product on my hair but it made no difference. I was then told I had to blow dry my hair every time I washed it or the product would not work. In my opinion this product is no more than a conditioning treatment and I feel really ripped off. £140 for a treatment that does not work is appalling.
where can i order this products?,I live in greece, can somebody help me please?
i had my braziliana hair treatment done last thursday, i washed it sunday evening only to find it is still frizzy after the treatment , can you tell me why this is please
