Picture 2 300x70 Join Matter of Trust in Cleaning up the Gulf Oil SpillIn response to the recent oil spill catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico, the nonprofit organization Matter of Trust is collecting hair clippings from salons to help contain the spill. The clippings will be used to make hair booms, which are tubes made of recycled nylon stuffed with hair that effectively cling to the oil and pull it out. Salon owners can mail their clippings to 12 locations throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida, where hundreds of volunteers are hosting Boom B Q parties to make the booms.

The accident occurred when crude oil began leaking from a well off of the
Louisiana coast after a drilling rig exploded on April 20, 2010. The oil has
already reached the state’s shore and is drifting toward the Alabama and
Florida coasts. Matter of Trust has been collecting and recycling hair
clippings to help clean up oil spills since 2000. For more information on
how your salon can get involved, visit matteroftrust.org.

Just a quick note to thank you for taking time to set up a way for all – to be good stewards of the people and environment of the gulf coast. So thanks, a million thanks!

Nancy – thanks for pointing out the great stuff Matter of Trust is doing. At http://www.CutOutsideTheLine.com, we’re partnering with Matter of Trust – our goal is to raise $50,000 to help cover the cost of warehouse storage and the nylons used for the hair-stuffed booms! HALF of every dollar spent on hair stylist training videos at CutOutsideTheLine.com will go to Matter of Trust. Hope the word spreads – we’d love to give even more than $50k…there’s no max on our donation…the more, the better! Thanks, again, to Matter of Trust, too! Lisa – you’re doing a great job! Keep it up!
