Joico salons’ Beauty for a Cure in-salon initiatives raised over $50,000 for breast cancer awareness programs during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Activities ranged from cut-a-thons to a celebrity-filled event at Gavert Atelier Salon in Beverly Hills, CA. Guests at the gathering, which was co-sponsored by Voli Light Vodkas, included Dancing With the Stars‘ winner Karina Smirnoff, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump, and Footloose‘s Ziah Colon. All guests enjoyed Pink Karina Voli Light Vodka drinks, a candy bar and hairstyling touch-ups courtesy of Gavert Atelier Owner Cody Kuskabe and his team.
All Beauty for a Cure participants are invited to make donations to the breast cancer organizations of their choosing; this year, many chose City of Hope, which honored Joico Senior Vice President and General Manager Sara Jones with its Spirit of Life Award in July. Jones’ year-long fund-raising campaign for City of Hope generated more than $1.2 million for research and cures for cancers.

“Joico is a company that cares and the beauty industry is a profession that cares,” Jones said. “The incredible results form our Beauty for a Cure initiative prove that without a doubt. We’re proud of what Joico salons have accomplished this year and we know that this is just the beginning as Beauty for a Cure continues to grow.” —Kristen Heinzinger
