Harris Shepard Public Relations, Inc. (HSPR), a Los Angeles-based public relations agency that specializes in working with beauty clients, celebrates its 25th anniversary this month. HSPR’s longest-standing client is OPI Products Inc., which it started representing 20 years ago and has since helped the brand become a world leader in nail care. The agency has also represented beauty brands like Murad, DuWop and Kevin.Murphy.
Harris Shepard, president of HSPR, has been committed to a career in public relations since he was 14-years-old and has successfully created an agency that is unique in its ability to tailor strategic campaigns to each client’s needs. The agency values working intimately with clients to help develop their industry voice, creating a history of long-term client relationships.
“I think being very results oriented and believing in journalistic excellence helped us stand out,” Shepard said. Still, the agency might not have seen such marked success over the years had Shepard not been able to adapt to the changing market. Shepard said he started with just an IBM typewriter, which soon became a fax machine, then a car phone and the changes just continued on from there. “It is amazing how much my business has evolved. The Internet changed everything. We have to keep up, so it is a very challenging, but exciting and fun time to be in the industry.”
