Vogue and CFDA’s third annual Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) was a huge success, bringing freebies, makeovers, music and celebrities to excited shoppers in New York City last night. Companies like Redken, Sebastian Professional and Essie beautified guests with free hairstyling and manicures.
At its 5th Avenue salon, and for its first-ever FNO event, Redken treated shoppers who purchased at least $40 in product to a free “dry style” hairdo, inspired by four of Creative Consultant Guido’s runway looks. Redken artists used signature products like Wax Blast 10 and Spray Starch 15 for prep, and Fashion Work 12 hair spray and Shine Flash 02 for finish. Customers chose from Guido’s hair creations Girl Power, Strictly Speaking, Miss Sixties and About a Boy.
Sebastian Professional kept hair fun at the Alice and Oliva by Stacey Bendet boutique on Madison Avenue, amidst MTV cameras and a crowd of shoppers. To stay in-sync with the shop’s carnival theme, Sebastian offered free clip-in extensions in cotton candy pink and candy red shades. With a curling iron and Sebastian Shaper hair spray, stylist Lanette molded the extensions into fun and flashy hairdos that guests could wear all night long.
At the Teen Vogue Block Party in Greenwich Village, a swarm of girls and women lined up for free Essie mini-manicures. Nail techs used the brand’s Fall 2011 collection and also incorporated brighter colors to create three custom nail art looks, designed by Teen Vogue Beauty Director Eva Chen and Essie manicurist Elle Gerstein, who also gave tips on nails and trends for this season. —Kristen Heinzinger
