Davines has announced the winners for its first Eco-Salon Contest. Arabella Salon and Spa in Portland, OR, took the prize for the category of Premier Eco-Salon while ION Studio in New York City won for Premier Eco-Salon Design. The competition required contestants to submit photos of their salons and explain to judges how their businesses exhibited environmentally friendly qualities. The panel of judges included Davines’ Creative Director Vittoria Mangiarotti and Jorge Blanco, creative director for Davines North America. In August, Davines picked a group of eight semifinalists—five in the overall category and three in the design category—who were each asked to answer additional questions and submit a 10-minute video about their salon. Winners picked up their prizes at the Davines World Wide Hair Tour, held in Berlin from October 2–6. —Ivy Tan
