At the grand reopening celebration for the Patrick Melville Salon and Spa in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza, American Salon Editor in Chief Marianne Dougherty and I got to check out the beautiful new space—and see some of the bold-faced names that turned out to support owners Patrick Melville and Rick Wellman. After sharing an elevator with Harry Connick Jr. and his wife, Jill Goodacre, I explored the recently renovated salon (love the pedicure area!) and checked out the Picasso masterpieces adorning the walls thanks to a new partnership with the William Bennett Gallery. The gallery will be providing a rotating and art exhibition of rare works by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall and Joan Miro that will be changed every six weeks to correspond with the average time between client visits. Also checking out the salon were Erin Lucas and Olivia Palermo, stars of MTV’s hit reality show The City, New York Giants player Chase Blackburn, and several editors and in-the-know fashionistas from the NYC area.
